  Binge-Eating Addiction

Binge eating is characterized by episodes of excessive eating. It happens especially when the individual is feeling out of control and powerless to stop. Food is used as a coping mechanism when feeling stressed out or experiencing negative emotions. Binge eaters can eat even when they are not hungry and continue to do so after they are full.

After a bout of binge eating, the individual struggle with feelings of guilt, disgust and shame. He can vow not to binge and yet the compulsion is so strong that he find himself eating excessively again.

Some might struggle with anxiety or depression. Both can either cause or exacerbate binge-eating.
