Addiction is a progressive mental health disorder which increases in severity over time, unless treated. It destroys relationships, breaks up families and consumes lives.
Addiction is the compulsive use of a substance or behaviour despite negative or dangerous consequences. There are two broad categories; mainly substance addiction and behavioural addiction. Substance addiction includes substances such as alcohol, legal and illegal drugs, glue, cigarettes and even caffeine. Whereas, behavioural addiction may include problem gambling, sex, pornography, gaming, excessive internet use, excessive shopping and shoplifting.
