Sonam Damani is a counsellor at WE CARE who specialises in a wide range of issues including substance abuse and behavioural addictions such as eating disorders, internet/gaming, and shopping. She also assists in programme conceptualisation and execution, and facilitates group sessions for clients in recovery.
Sonam holds a Master of Counselling from the University of Queensland. She is a trained Gestalt Therapist with the West Coast Institute, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist with the Arizona Trauma Institute. A certified Self-Management Recovery Training (SMART) Facilitator, she is also in the process of becoming a Clinical Member of the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and an Ordinary Member of the Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC).
Prior to joining the WE CARE team, Sonam was a counsellor at the Centre Against Sexual Violence (Brisbane) where she provided counselling to women and young women aged 12 and above who were victims of sexual assault or abuse. She also gained experience working as a Job Coach at SCORE, assisting ex-offenders with their reintegration back into society.
